Great saphenous vein arterialisation as a novel technique of vascular conduit preparation for an elective repair of a brachial artery aneurysm.

This paper describes a technique used to treat an end-stage kidney disease patient, a kidney transplant recipient, who was diagnosed with an advanced aneurysmal degeneration of the brachial artery. The current report presents a novel, staged technique of surgical vascular repair with a previously arterialized autologous great saphenous vein (GSV), along with a 12-month follow-up observation period. The patient was treated with an arterialised great saphenous vein bypass that was not primarily suitable for use as a conduit due to its small diameter. To achieve a satisfactory vessel size, an arteriovenous fistula was created, resulting in the maturation and arterialisation of the outflow vein.
