eHealth Interventions for Dementia in Ethnic Minority Groups: A Scoping Review.

This scoping review examines literature on eHealth interventions for the dementia care triad, people with dementia, informal carers, and healthcare professionals that were developed or culturally adapted to address the needs of ethnic minority groups. Following PRISMA-ScR guidelines, searches were conducted in PubMed, PsycINFO, Scopus, Embase, and Google. Studies published before 2007 or in languages other than English or Dutch were excluded. Thematic analysis revealed an increase in publications since 2015, mainly from the United States, with mixed-methods studies focusing on videophone technologies. Most interventions were home-based and caregiver-oriented, with limited inclusion of people with dementia. Chinese American and Chinese Canadian groups were most frequently targeted. Reported outcomes emphasized feasibility and acceptability, alongside mental health aspects such as depression and caregiver burden. Gaps remain in geographical diversity, linguistic accessibility, and inclusion of people with dementia. Future research should prioritize culturally adapted, multilingual, and inclusive interventions to enhance equitable dementia care.
