Dr. Gregory Rizzolo's recent JAPA article refers to my book, Lacanian Psychotherapy: Theory and Practical Applications, to support his critique of Lacanian psychoanalysis. I respond here to his characterization of my position on countertransference, as well as Lacan's. Despite our differences on the the texts in question, I suggest that on substance, Dr. Rizzolo and I agree more than we disagree.
