The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disordersfirst took its current form and format in 1980 when DSM-III was published (1). Subsequently and periodically, APA’sBoard of Trustees would entrust a task force with produc-ing an updated edition. Thus, 1994 saw the publication ofDSM-IV (2) and 2013 saw the publication of DSM-5 (3). In2024, the Board of Trustees established the Future DSMStrategic Committee and tasked it with developing a roadmapfor DSM’s next iteration. The committee has been working onthe roadmap since May 2024, and this report provides a sum-mary of progress to date.
