Some Distinctive Features of the Slavonic Recensions of the Martyrdom of Daniel and the Three Youths V. M. Istrin published two Greek (1903) and two Old Slavonic (1893) recensions of the Christian legend about the Martyrdom of Daniel and the Three Youths. I. Franko published some other recensions of this legend found in Ukraine (1896). All these texts utilize both biblical material and some parabiblical traditions. This article examines a few of the most significant biblical and parabiblical quotations and allusions in this legend, as well as how some personalities are rendered in its Greek and Slavonic recensions.
