A new subspecies of Dactylolabis (Coenolabis) posthabita (Bergroth, 1888) from Hungary and new faunistic records of crane flies (Diptera, Tipuloidea) from the Balkans.

The crane fly fauna (Diptera, Tipuloidea) of the Balkans remains poorly known, despite recent faunistic and taxonomic research. Here, we present new faunistic data on Limoniidae and Tipulidae from the region. In total, 20 species are reported from Albania, 15 from Montenegro, seven from North Macedonia, three from Bosnia and Herzegovina, three from Serbia, one from Croatia, and one from Bulgaria. Male genitalia of several rare or poorly known species are photographed for the first time. Morphological variation among populations of the rare and poorly known Dactylolabis (Coenolabis) posthabita (Bergroth, 1888) is discussed and illustrated, and a new subspecies, D. (C.) posthabita tothi Kolcsár, ssp. nov., is described from Hungary.
