Anti-Müllerian hormone levels in girls with precocious puberty.

OBJECTIVES: We aimed to evaluate the relationship between anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels in cases of central precocious puberty (CPP), premature adrenarche (PA), and isolated premature thelarche (IPT) and those of healthy controls (HC). METHODS: A total of 153 girls (40 PA, 39 CPP, 39 IPT, and 35 HC) were included in the study. AMH levels were assessed using the ELISA method. RESULTS: The mean age of all participants was 7.19 ± 0.63 (5.0-8.0) years. Height SDS was higher in the puberty and puberty variant groups compared with the healthy group. This difference was found to be statistically significant between the CPP and HC groups. Obesity was present in 20 of all participants (13 %). AMH levels were 0.125 ± 0.154, 0.086 ± 0.072, 0.084 ± 0.074, and 0.069 ± ;0.060 ng/mL in PA, PT, CPP, and HC groups, respectively. Although AMH levels were higher in the PA group, there was no statistically significant difference among the four groups. A weak negative correlation was found between AMH levels and BMI SDS (body mass index standard deviation score). CONCLUSIONS: AMH levels do not differ between prepubertal girls and those diagnosed with central precocious puberty or a variant of puberty of the same age.
