Limitations in dosing of electrical nerve stimulation: assessment with compound potential measurements

This study contributes to understanding the effects of electrical stimulation on nerve responsiveness via compound action potential (CAP) measurements. Contrary to existing assumptions, sensory axons were unable to entrain stimulation frequencies above 50 Hz. There was significant variation in response declines between participants, suggesting that electrical stimulation therapies may require dose monitoring and tailoring for different individuals.
