Posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens in posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy.

A woman in her early 20s with bilateral compound myopic astigmatism and unilateral posterior polymorphous corneal dystrophy (PPCD) underwent sequential bilateral toric posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens (PCpIOL) implantation, more specifically implantable collamer lens (ICL). Corneal specular microscopy and slit lamp examination done preoperatively were consistent with the diagnosis of left eye PPCD. At 3 years follow-up visit, the patient had uncorrected distance visual acuity of LogMAR 0 and LogMAR 0.1 in the right and left eye, respectively, with normal intraocular pressure, good corneal endothelial cell density and a stable PCpIOL. To the best of our knowledge, ICL implantation in an eye with PPCD has not been reported before.
