An elastic approximation of a porous medium model was fitted to the shear and compressional seabed geoacoustic profile at the New England Mud Patch, obtained through a trans-dimensional Bayesian inversion of matched-field acoustic data, over the 20-2000 Hz band. The adopted model was an elastic approximation of the modified, corrected, Revil, extended Biot model that retains the creep modification and elastic components of Biot's equations. Its attenuation mechanism is a form of creep, and it can accommodate the effects of consolidation, suitable for sediments at all depths considered in the trans-dimensional inversion. Model parameter values and their credibility intervals were obtained.
