ABSTRACT Additive manufacturing (AM) technology can effectively overcome the limitations of traditional manufacturing techniques with high material utilization efficiency and design freedom, particularly in the fabrication of components with complicated structures, which are widely used in the preparation of high‐performance nickel‐based superalloys. This paper first introduces an overview of nickel superalloys and then introduces the influencing factors of microstructure, the generation and control methods of residual stress, and the research progress and optimization strategies of mechanical properties (such as tensile, fatigue, and creep properties) of AM nickel‐based superalloys. Furthermore, the development of machine learning techniques in predicting microstructure, regulating mechanical properties, and optimizing alloy composition is also prospected.
