Isolated oral pemphigus vegetans - A case report.

Pemphigus vegetans, a rare subtype of pemphigus, is characterized by vegetative plaques, primarily affecting intertriginous areas. We report a case of a 55-year-old female who presented with a three-month history of multiple blisters on the tongue. The blisters ruptured spontaneously within 2-3 days, subsequently forming persistent vegetative plaques over the affected areas. Clinical, hematological and histopathological findings were compatible with pemphigus vegetans. The patient responded favorably to systemic and topical corticosteroids and adjunctive therapies, with marked improvement observed within weeks. This case highlights the importance of recognizing atypical variants of pemphigus for timely diagnosis and effective management.
