In existing event-triggered sliding mode control (ETSMC) for switched systems, triggering or switching behavior usually causes the system states to deviate from the sliding surface, which may affect both stability and robustness of the system. To deal with this issue, this paper proposes a reachability-guaranteed ETSMC for switched systems without/with communication delay. Firstly, an event-triggered scheme (ETS) is constructed with two error functions integrated to counteract the effects of the triggering and guides the state trajectories onto the sliding surface within finite time. Then, by using time-varying Lyapunov function technology, asymptotic stability of the sliding mode dynamic is established, even in the scenario where all switched modes are unstabilizable. This ensures bothreachabilityandasymptotic stabilityof the switched system be achievedsimultaneously. In addition, Zeno behavior is excluded. Then to deal with the network-induced communication delay and ensure a positive lower bound on the inter-event intervals, the proposed scheme is extended to a periodic event-triggered scenario. Reachability and asymptotic stability can still be guaranteed by using a positive convergent sequence in ETS. Finally, simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.
