In this paper, the coupled asymmetrical nanoring resonators are fabricated with narrow bandwidth, high-Q factor, and high ON-OFF ratio for ultracompact optical integrated circuits. This nanoscale device is used to realize the dual function of narrowband filter and 1×2 optical switch. The coupled asymmetrical photonic crystal ring resonators play a vital role in wavelength filtering and switching operation. The 100 keV electron beam lithography and reactive ion etching method is used to fabricate a nanoscale photonic device with low input power, high extinction ratio of 36.55 dB, narrow bandwidth of 0.5 nm and high-Q factor of 3097. This nanophotonic platform is highly suitable for optical communication system and photonic integrated circuits.
