Purpose This study uses a bibliometric systematic literature review (B-SLR) method to develop a comprehensive assessment of the literature on entrepreneurs' work-family relationships. It explores the intellectual structure, current trends, evolutionary trajectory and future research directions of this field. Design/methodology/approach This study combines bibliometric analysis with a systematic literature review using the B-SLR method. Through co-occurrence analysis, cluster analysis and timeline analysis of 122 journal articles retrieved from the Web of Science and Scopus databases, the study reveals the theoretical foundations of the field, maps key themes and identifies future research directions. Findings This study outlines the current state and developmental trajectory of research on entrepreneurs' work-family relationships, constructs a theoretical integration framework and identifies four key themes: the debate on entrepreneurs' work-family relationships, antecedents, outcomes and moderating mechanisms. In addition, it proposes four directions for future research. Research limitations/implications This study recommends that future research should expand database coverage and employ external cross-validation to reduce bias. This would enhance the comprehensiveness of literature data retrieval and the objectivity of analysis. Furthermore, comparative analyses should be conducted to explore the heterogeneity of entrepreneurial contexts, providing more targeted management guidance. Practical implications This review proposes strategies to help entrepreneurs effectively manage work-family relationships from three perspectives: entrepreneurs, family supporters and policymakers. Originality/value This study provides a timely and comprehensive analysis of research on entrepreneurs' work-family relationships, contributing to both academic literature and managerial practice by offering an integrated framework and suggesting future research directions.
