The crystal structure of the title complex, [CuBr2(C14H17N3)], comprises two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The five-coordinate copper(II) atoms in the two independent molecules exhibit slightly different coordination environments on the continuum between square-pyramidal and trigonal-bipyramidal, with values of τ = 0.442 and 0.574. In the extended structure, both independent mol-ecules form linked dimers with graph-set notation R 2 4(8) through N-H⋯Br and C-H⋯Br inter-actions.
