Minimally Invasive Breast Augmentation: A Comparative Analysis of Satisfaction, Recovery, and Sensory Outcomes.

BACKGROUND: With the emergence of a minimally invasive breast augmentation, designed to preserve tissue integrity, there is a growing interest in how this approach compares to conventional methods. This study aims to evaluate patient-reported outcomes, including satisfaction, recovery experience, postoperative pain, and sensory changes, by comparing a hybrid breast augmentation technique, defined as implant-based augmentation combined with adjunctive autologous fat grafting, and a novel minimally invasive technique. METHODS: A prospective observational cohort study evaluating and comparing outcomes in women undergoing minimally invasive breast augmentation versus a hybrid technique was performed over a 12-month period. Patient-reported outcomes were assessed preoperatively and at 1 week, 1 month, and 6 months postoperatively using the BREAST-Q questionnaire. RESULTS: 60 women were included in this study and split into two cohorts, Cohort 1 (Mia) and Cohort 2 (hybrid augmentation). Both surgical approaches resulted in significant improvements in breast satisfaction, overall well-being, and psychosocial outcomes. While overall satisfaction levels were comparable, the Mia technique demonstrated significant advantages across key postoperative outcomes, including a 74% reduction in reported pain, a 41% improvement in nipple sensitivity, and a 61% faster recovery time compared to the hybrid technique. CONCLUSION: The Mia breast enhancement technique has demonstrated favorable patient-reported outcomes. This study highlights its advantages, including faster recovery, improved physical comfort, and greater aesthetic satisfaction. These benefits position Mia as a safe, low-downtime alternative to hybrid augmentation techniques for those suitable.
