Nursing research is one of the hallmarks of the Magnet® Recognition program. The value of rigorous research criteria is challenging to assess. However, we should ask, if nursing is not driving its own practice through research, who is? This article will examine the history of nursing research and its impact on driving not only evidence-based practice but also on advancing nursing as a profession.
