Successful Excision and Skin Grafting of Verrucous Hemangiomas: A Case Series of Two Patients.

Verrucous hemangioma is a rare congenital vascular anomaly characterized by hyperkeratotic, verrucous plaques, typically affecting the lower extremities. Complete surgical excision with adequate margins is the mainstay of treatment to prevent recurrence. We report 2 cases successfully managed with excision and skin grafting. Two patients, 26 and 15 years of age, presented with long-standing verrucous, hyperpigmented plaques on their lower extremities. Both underwent excision and split-thickness skin grafting. The first patient had an uneventful postoperative course with complete graft take. The second patient experienced partial graft loss requiring regrafting, which subsequently healed well. Histopathologic examination confirmed verrucous hemangioma in both cases. Excision followed by skin grafting is an effective treatment for verrucous hemangiomas. Prompt recognition and management is crucial to achieve optimal functional and aesthetic outcomes.
