Response to Commentaries to "Illusions of Understanding in the Sciences".

The commentaries to the essay "Illusions of Understanding in the Sciences" added important perspectives, citations to relevant research, and in some cases alternative views. The number of commentaries (32) make it impossible to respond to them individually. In this response we discuss the major themes that appeared in the commentaries.
