This article is a personal reflection on my journey in the field of biblical studies, elucidating the various methodologies that have helped me to hear the voice of God more clearly through the written word. It also argues that, rather than operating in mere ‘rooms of echoes’, biblical scholarship provides a space for resonance. Therefore, it must pay attention to all voices involved in the discourse on the Word of God, both from the past and the present. It further argues that the Historical-Critical method is one of these many voices, and that despite all the criticism levelled at it, it helps to avoid merely paying lip service to God’s ‘dual way’ (incarnational way) of acting and speaking in this world.
