One of the main chronic diseases that disables young adults is multiple sclerosis (MS). By examining the regulatory function of miR559 and its downstream targets, Metadherin (MTDH), Phosphatase and Tensin Homolog (PTEN), Alpha Serine/Threonine Protein Kinase (AKT) Pathway and p53, as well as the connection between this pathway and disease severity, the current study aims to evaluate the function of MTDH and miR559 as prognostic and/or diagnostic biomarkers for multiple sclerosis. The current study included a total of 18 healthy participants and 22. The median MTDH and PTEN were statistically significantly lower in cases as compared to control. On the other hand, the median miR-559 and AKT were statistically significantly higher in cases as compared to control. According to data from receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, multiple sclerosis can be diagnosed using MTDH (AUC=0.818) and miR559 (AUC=0.909). The study concluded by suggesting for the first time that AKT expression in MS may be impacted by the crosstalk between miR559 and MTDH. Interestingly, miR559 and MTDH may be genetic noninvasive MS indicators.
