Tailoring the WHO Caregiver Skills Training Program: Insights from Implementation in Two Latin American Countries.

Despite growing needs for caregiver support programs in Latin America, a minimal amount is known about implementing evidence-based interventions in this region. This study assessed the feasibility and acceptability of the WHO Caregiver Skills Training (CST) program in Argentina and Uruguay. Using a phenomenological framework, focus groups with caregivers (n = 18) of children with autistim (ages 2-9) revealed that: (a) collective learning environments aligned with cultural values; (b) implementation faced resource and logistical barriers; and (c) the program enhanced family adaptation and resilience. Results indicate CST's potential sustainability when culturally adapted, as Latino values emphasizing collective support and family-centered care significantly influenced caregivers' perception of the program's relevance in resource-constrained settings such as Latin American countries.
