This paper investigates the structure, evolution and properties of nanocomposites made from a PVDF/PVA polymer blend doped with magnesium oxide (MgO) and cadmium oxide (CdO) nanoparticles. The PVDF/PVA blend was doped with 0.04 wt.% MgO, followed by varying amounts (4, 7 and 10 mL) of CdO nanoparticles synthesized by pulsed laser ablation in a liquid. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed enhanced crystalline PVDF phases and the appearance of characteristic CdO peaks, with nanoparticle sizes estimated at 43 nm. FTIR spectra confirmed the successful integration of MgO and CdO through density and amplitude changes in the 800 cm−¹ region. Thermogravimetric analysis showed an increase in thermal stability and residual mass (2.1–17.9 wt.% at 600 °C) with increasing nanoparticle content. Dielectric measurements revealed a significant improvement in the dielectric constant and loss after the addition of magnesium oxide and cadmium oxide, especially at low frequencies . These results highlight the synergistic effects of magnesium oxide and cadmium oxide nanofillers on the structural design, optical response and electrical performance of the magnesium oxide/PVA nanocomposites.
