In the current study, experimental studies were conducted to determine the ideal concentration of Al2O3 nanoadditives in the chia seed oil methyl ester blend for the best diesel engine performance and exhaust emissions. The Al2O3 nanoparticles dispersed at various concentrations (20, 30, 40, and 50 mg/L) in biodiesel blend. The biodiesel blend was prepared with a 20% mixture of methyl ester from chia seed oil and 80% diesel fuel and labeled as CSME20. The current study's findings indicated that CSME20 marginally diminished the engine's performance and emission characteristics in comparison to pure diesel. Using Al2O3 additives was shown to increase all engine performance parameters. However, the highest emissions decrease was found at the rate of 50 mg/L, with significant reductions in HC by 12.69%, CO2 by 10.52%, NOX by 6.91%, O2 by 8.17%, and smoke by 9.69% when compared to CSME20. The best performance and combustion behavior of the CI engine were achieved at a dosing level of 50 mg/L, where the increase in the BTE and cylinder pressure was at 3.49% and 2.17% compared to diesel. As per the results obtained, the CSME20 with 50 mg/L of Al2O3 demonstrated a significant improvement in all engine performance parameters.
