This study looks at the effects of adding networking-skills training to a political science seminar. Students who received the training reported higher levels of comfort, confidence, and experience in most networking activities compared to a control group. Both groups identified direct outreach to professionals as the most valuable activity, but trained students engaged in it more often. Political science departments can use the same assessment tools we already rely on for accreditation to evaluate how well our career preparation efforts are working to improve career readiness skills.
