Development and validation of religious, moral, and spiritual intelligence scales

While recent theories of intelligence have explored diverse domains, such as social, emotional, and sexual intelligence, the constructs of religious, moral, and spiritual intelligence remain underdeveloped. This research aimed to address this gap by developing and validating the religious (RIS), moral (MIS), and spiritual (SIS) intelligence scales through four studies involving 1512 Muslim participants (Mage = 24.19; SD = 7.27; women = 60.5%) from Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Pakistan. The scales underwent comprehensive evaluations, including exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, as well as tests for convergent, divergent, and predictive validity. The scales demonstrated excellent reliability (Cronbach's alpha: RIS = .950, MIS = .814, SIS = .901). Robust model-fit indices supported the validity (such as comparative fit index, Tucker-Lewis index, goodness of fit index were all above .90 for RIS, MIS, & SIS). Convergent, divergent, and predictive validity was established for three scales (p < .001) using appropriate measures. The scales hold potential for applications across psychological, educational, and cultural research.
