原始摘要(英文原文)· Original abstract
Understanding students’ cultures and backgrounds is essential for implementing culturally responsive behavioral supports. In the current educational landscape, where racially/ethnically minoritized students often face disproportionate disciplinary practices, it is imperative to design school environments that affirm students’ identities and align with their cultural assets. This understanding is vital for educators, as it underpins effective, equitable behavioral interventions and support systems. This paper explores strategies and cultural considerations educators can adopt to ensure behavioral supports are both equitable and responsive to diverse student needs. First, historical and current educational inequities are discussed to highlight the need for culturally responsive interventions. Next, the importance of understanding culture and context in schools is outlined, followed by recommendations to support culturally responsive practices that center on critical self-reflection to foster inclusive school climates and improve systemic outcomes.
