A case of sexual assault resulting in life-threatening injuries to an older woman.

Sexual violence includes all acts directed against an individual's sexuality through force, coercion, or threats, regardless of the relationship between the perpetrator and the victim. According to the Turkish Penal Code, lack of consent or legally invalid consent constitutes a fundamental element of the offense, while conditions such as physical or mental incapacity, common in the geriatric population, are considered aggravating factors. With the global increase in the elderly population, elder abuse has become a significant human rights issue. It is defined as any act or omission within a relationship of trust that causes harm or distress to an older person, including physical, psychological, sexual, and economic abuse, as well as neglect. We present the case of an 83-year-old woman referred following sexual assault. Examination revealed severe vaginal and rectal lacerations requiring surgical intervention. This case highlights the severity of sexual violence and the vulnerability of the geriatric population.
