Coexistence of nasal dermoid cyst and encephalocele misdiagnosed as dacryocystitis.

Nasal dermoid cysts (NDs) are common congenital midline nasal masses that may result in complications such as infection and obstruction. This report presents a rare case of a nasal dermoid cyst associated with a sincipital encephalocele (EPHC) in a pediatric patient, presenting clinically as acute dacryocystitis. Histopathological examination revealed a meningocele alongside dermoid cysts. This case underscores the importance of distinguishing between dacryocystitis (or dacryocystocele) and EPHCs, which can present with similar clinical features but require distinct management strategies. The coexistence of NDs and EPHCs is rare, making this case particularly noteworthy. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is essential for establishing the diagnosis and guiding treatment.
