Despite being a well-developed technique, transient grating spectroscopy has not been widely adapted to high-pressure condensed matter experiments. Here, a platform for x-ray-pump, optical probe transient grating spectroscopy in averaged mode is described. Improvements that may enable eventual single-shot assessments of thermal diffusivity for optically transparent materials at high pressure are detailed.
