Herein, we established diacetyl as a platform reagent for diversity-oriented aldehyde C(sp2)-H functionalisation, which was enabled by the efficient generation of acyl radicals via visible-light-induced hydrogen atom abstraction. This fundamental reactivity was seamlessly integrated into unified C(O)-X bond-forming processes, delivering structurally diverse and value-added carbonyl derivatives.
