Complex structured argyrodites have shown potential as good thermoelectric materials due to low κlat. Here, we report Ca2+-doped Ag9GaTe6 as a p-type thermoelement in which the valence band shift towards the Fermi level and increase in the ionic energetics lead to a high zT of 0.8 at 703 K.
