Nickel boride supported on a mixed phase cobalt oxide/hydroxide support (Ni x B/Co 3 O 4 /Co(OH) 2 ) acts as a non-precious pre-catalyst for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), transforming into an active oxyhydroxide surface.
