Abstract Wastewater and environmental surveillance is a valuable tool for early warning, detection, and response to emerging public health threats, with the added ability to inform data gaps across several Sustainable Development Goals. Drawing from our experiences in Bangladesh, Ghana, Malawi, and South Africa, we call to action this often unmentioned link through critical applied research questions and engagement in peer-to-peer learning and global Communities of Practice.
