In this work, for the first time, hybrid membranes are successfully fabricated using 2D lanthanide metal-organic frameworks, PVDF-HFP (poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene)), and metal salts (Li+ and Na+). These hybrid membranes show a layered structure with excellent thermal stability and good mechanical strength. Ionic conductivities in the order of 10-4 S cm-1 are achieved for both Li+ and Na+ ions in these membranes. Additionally, the overall ion-conduction behaviour is correlated with the structural characteristics to predict the ion-conduction pathway and mechanism.
