Rhodium-Catalyzed Selective Amination of 1-Pyridyl-o-carboranes with N-Boc-O-tosylhydroxylamine: Synthesis of Primary Carboranyl Amines.

This work discloses a rhodium-catalyzed selective amination of the B-H bond of 1-pyridyl-o-carboranes with N-Boc-O-tosylhydroxylamine (TsONHBoc) via direct B-H activation. A series of primary carboranyl amine derivatives decorated with diverse active groups have been synthesized in moderate yields under mild conditions. This work offers a practical and facile approach for the synthesis of primary carboranyl amines and has important value for application in medicinal chemistry and functional materials.
