We have devised a regioselective synthesis of sulfonyl fluoride-functionalized pyrroles via the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of münchnones with 1-bromoethene-1-sulfonyl fluoride. The methodology was scalable and could realize the synthesis of a wide variety of functionalized pyrroles. By subjecting the sulfonyl fluoride-functionalized pyrroles to SuFEx conditions, we could generate interesting pyrrole sulfonamides and sulfonates.
