The unique properties, renewability, and market availability of glycerol (and related molecules) make it an attractive candidate for transformation in numerous applications. The present work utilizes molecules containing glycerol skeletons for the preparation of deep eutectic solvents (DESs). The field of chemical sciences is rapidly adopting DESs as an alternative medium. Not only are the components of DESs inexpensive and often greener than conventional alternatives, but there is a large variety of identified components that can be combined to form DESs with different physicochemical properties. This study examines a class of ternary DESs that are derived from H-bond donors (HBDs) based on a symmetric 1,3-diether-2-propanol motif obtained from the reaction of epichlorohydrin with small alcohols, with choline chloride (CC) acting as the H-bond acceptor. Here we study the density, dynamic viscosity, and refractive index (RI) of these ternary DESs within the temperature range 293.15-353.15 K. Featuring DTEP as an HBD2 component in DES- DTEP:CC:DFE exhibits a higher density compared to other DESs that have been prepared, which can be explained by the higher concentration of F atoms in its structural framework.
