MongoFlow is an open-source, web-based integrated development environment for MongoDB that combines visual database interaction with AI-assisted support to address usability challenges associated with MongoDB and document-oriented database workflows. The platform provides inferred-schema exploration, visual aggregation pipeline construction, multi-language code export, and post-execution performance statistics within a unified interface. A central contribution of MongoFlow is the integration of an AI assistant that supports natural language query formulation, post-execution error capture, and guided query correction grounded in database structure and execution context. From a technical perspective, MongoFlow is implemented as a modular, three-tier web application using modern web technologies and secure server-side database access. From a scientific perspective, the system enables new investigations into human–database interaction, AI-assisted data exploration, and the effectiveness of visual and language-based interfaces for complex query construction. By lowering technical barriers while preserving expressiveness, MongoFlow supports more reproducible and efficient MongoDB-based research and development workflows.
