The Impact of a Licensed Practical Nurse Residency: A Program Evaluation.

Residency programs are popular initiatives for graduate nurses' transition into practice and currently focus on registered nurses and not licensed practical nurses. This program evaluation assessed a novel residency program geared towards these clinicians to determine the effect on transition to practice. There was an 81.8% retention rate, which was the intended effect of the program. This program evaluation suggests that a licensed practical nurse-specific residency program improves rates of retention and confidence.
