Chronic wounds present a significant challenge to the global healthcare system, contributing to high morbidity and mortality rates. These wounds are often characterized by delayed wound healing and persistent bacterial infections, particularly those associated with biofilm formation. To tackle these challenges, innovative treatment approaches are needed. In this study, molecular docking analyses were performed on S. aureus biofilm and efflux pump proteins to assess the antibacterial potential of the proposed compound. The proposed compound demonstrated strong binding affinities for S. aureus , suggesting promising antibacterial properties. Quercetin was modified with N -succinyl chitosan (NSC) to form the Q-NSC conjugate, enhancing its solubility and bioavailability. Its structure was confirmed by 1 H NMR and FTIR spectroscopic analyses. Q-NSC demonstrated good antibacterial activity and antioxidant activity, and supported fibroblast growth. These encouraging results led to the development of antimicrobial wound dressings composed of films and hydrogels. Both formulations exhibited potent antioxidant and antibacterial activities and significantly enhanced fibroblast wound healing in vitro.
