A human intelligence nursing education policy guide: Three standards for the complementary-ethical use of artificial intelligence.

BACKGROUND: Nursing educators have the responsibility to ensure human caring, the heart and soul of Professional Nursing, is preserved and evolves against pervasive technology supremacy. PURPOSE: This paper offers a Human Intelligence (HI) Nursing Education Policy Guide for ethical complementary use of artificial intelligence (AI). METHOD: Scholarly discourse using Unitary Caring Science underpinning the disciplinary framework for HI, strengthened by Watson's 10 Caritas Processes. DISCUSSION: This Policy Guide provides a complementary, discipline-specific, HI answer to AI's potential ascendancy in Nursing Education. This HI Nursing Education Policy Guide encompasses three standards for AI use: Ontological/Ethical; Epistemological/Empirical; and Methodological/Praxis. CONCLUSION: Collectively, these three HI discipline-specific standards hold promise as guides to sustaining HI in nursing education.
