How visual information explains variance in visual perspective at autobiographical retrieval.

Variance in visual perspective during autobiographical retrieval has received considerable attention. This phenomenon refers to the capacity to recall past events from a first-person visual perspective, a third-person visual perspective, or even multiple perspectives. Although many studies have identified factors that correlate with this variance at retrieval, significantly less effort has been devoted to constructing a model that integrates and explains these various correlations. This paper aims to address this gap by integrating two previous models into a single one, the visual information for perspective at autobiographical retrieval model, according to which variance in visual and abstract information serves as a unifying factor that explains this perspectival variance. In addition to introducing this model and presenting evidence in its support, the paper also argues for the relevance of constructing such explanatory models in neuroscientific research.
