Imaging of Adrenal Tumors: What the Surgeon Wants to Know.

Adrenal tumors are relatively common entities, with the vast majority benign and non-functioning. Comprehensive management must include multidisciplinary involvement. Newer surgical techniques are now employed, aimed to reduce morbidity and improve outcomes. The radiologist plays an important role in this multidisciplinary approach. Optimal categorization of tumor type will guide management. Once surgery is considered, radiologic assessment aids in planning the surgical technique and in preventing intra-operative and post-operative complications. The aim of this review is to highlight the indications for adrenalectomy, the surgical approaches available, and what information in the radiology report is most important in influencing surgical management.
