This article reviews the imaging of pheochromocytoma and sympathetic paraganglioma focusing on MR imaging techniques, findings, and the role of MR imaging in the diagnostic algorithm. Background information on terminology, clinical features, and staging is also discussed and the need for familiarity with the increasingly recognized importance of underlying genetic predispositions is highlighted.
