• Two new Levosimendan analogues (compounds II and III) were synthesized via a multistep route involving green methods. • Both compounds were unequivocally characterized including the determination of their single crystal X ray diffraction structures. • Preliminary pharmacological evaluation of the compounds revealed promising cardiovascular effects. • Compound III exhibits positive inotropic and vasodilatory effects, keeping this compound as a promising species for further studies.
