“Real Food Wins” greets you on realfood.gov following images of whole milk, steak, and broccoli. Given the widespread health harms of ultra-processed foods,1 the emphasis on real food is welcome. However, this new federal website and the accompanying 2025–30 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs), released in January, 2026, by the United States Departments of Agriculture (USDA) and Health and Human Services (HHS), position red meat, full-fat dairy, animal-based fats, and protein as the real dietary winners.
