What does meaningful inclusion of local authors look like in The Lancet Regional Health – Africa?

The Lancet Regional Health – Africa has a strong commitment to being a voice for the region, decolonising global health, and the promotion of equitable partnerships in health and medical research.1 This commitment involves making thoughtful decisions about the representation of authors on all article types that we publish. Since opening for submissions in October 2025, we have observed trends in local author representation, and the dominance of authors based in high-income countries (HICs) on many submissions.
