This paper consists of the Jay L. Grosfeld / Plenary lecture which was delivered on May 7, 2026 at the annual meeting of the American Pediatric Surgical Association in Chicago, IL. Jacob C. Langer, MD presented a historical account of the management of Hirschsprung disease from a personal perspective, focusing on the contributions of the many people who have contributed to our understanding of the disease and our treatment strategies over the years.
